NASA Made Mission Posters in the Style of Classic Movies
The NASA ISS mission posters - coming soon to a computer near you!

Whenever NASA sends an expedition to the ISS, they make a poster for the mission as part of their "Space Flight Awareness" program. On the early expeditions, these posters were pretty much what you'd expect - valiant space-suited astronauts against a patriotic background of planet Earth or a launching space shuttle. But about sixteen missions in, the creative young men and women in charge of this promotional tool started putting their talents to good use.

Since 1996, the Kennedy Space Center's graphics department has been featuring NASA crew on film and pop-culture posters, many of which are inspired by classic cult sci-fi films such as The Matrix, Star Trek, Star Wars, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Many of the film titles have been tweaked to include clever puns, and feature astronauts cosplaying in geeky costumes. But while we're all for real-life astronauts being given the movie star treatment, the MVP of these posters is definitely astronaut Snoopy. If that doesn't inspire people to go to space, what will?
