YouTuber NightHawkInLight has created an insanely cool-looking, propane-powered plastic soda bottle launcher, that, predictably, is raising (and perhaps singeing) eyebrows across Reddit, where it first gathered attention as a compelling GIF posted by Redditor nvaus who is, from what we can ascertain, also the creator of the launcher.

The launcher is based on an earlier design which utilized alcohol vapor and a BBQ ignition system to launch empty soda bottles (no, we don't think full ones would be a good idea) from a shoulder-mounted (well, he said 'mortar,' but it looks shoulder mounted to us) bazooka-type device. The new design involves heavy plastic tubing mounted to a custom-cut rifle stock which is then attached to a small propane torch. Yes. A frigging torch.

In the comments on the Reddit post, Nvaus claims that the device can launch a bottle some 100 feet. Even if it launched it three feet, the blue flame and satisfying WHOOMP still makes it a thousand times cooler than that stupid Mentos/Diet Coke trick that keeps showing up on YouTube. We should probably tell you not to try this at home and to always wear goggles when playing with fire: so don't and do. Disclaimers aside, check out the video below.
