UFO enthusiasts have always believed in the mantra, "We are not alone." Last week, two huge stories by the New York Times all but confirmed it.

The Pentagon originally set up a secret UFO program as a catch-all for testimonies from service officers who claim to have seen or experienced something extraterrestrial while out on a mission.

Though that may have been the original intention, last week's
NYT exposes have even the general public still talking. "I have no idea what I saw," said Commander David Fravor. "It had no plumes, wings or rotors and outran our F-18s."

Today it was revealed that Luis Elizondo, the former Pentagon official in charge of this secretive program, also believes there's convincing evidence of aliens. "My personal belief is that there is very compelling evidence that we may not be alone," Elizondo told CNN.

Elizondo had previously said that he resigned over concerns about the secrecy of the program, which was strongly opposed internally after funding for the program was cut in 2012. This was a shame, said Elizondo, as they discovered a lot.

Fravor's memory of his encounter sounds particularly otherworldly: "The objects appeared suddenly at 80,000 feet, and then hurtled toward the sea, eventually stopping at 20,000 feet and hovering," he said. "Then they either dropped out of radar range or shot straight back up."

Agreeing with Fravor's account, Elizondo added that the UFOs were "Things that don't have any obvious flight services, any obvious forms of propulsion, and maneuvering in ways that include extreme maneuverability beyond, I would submit, the healthy G-forces of a human or anything biological."

Those of us who keep watching the skies know that such reports happen all the time, but even so, the last week has been particularly active one for UFO enthusiasts.

UFO Sightings creator Scott C Waring
accused NASA of not being honest about their findings on the Voyager 1, a meteorite in Scotland was determined to likely possess minerals of an alien nature, and NASA is investigating alien life on Ceres with its closest-ever mission using the Dawn spacecraft.
