Video Shows an Excited Elon Musk Watching the Falcon Heavy Launch

Elon Musk, being the eccentric billionaire that he is, definitely made his presence known during SpaceX's historic launch of their Falcon Heavy rocket last week. After all, it was apparently his personal Tesla Roadster that was launched into space (or so he claims).

But beyond posting a live feed of his car and dummy astronaut floating up in space, he seemed uncharacteristically quiet during the actual launch. Perhaps to rectify this, a new video from National Geographic shows how the SpaceX headquarters was faring while everyone watched the live launch of the Falcon Heavy, with a particular emphasis on Musk.

Needless to say, there's a lot of jumping and running around, and all of Musk's profanity was bleeped out, making this video safe for work. See the video below (if it's not playing, then you can also watch it here):

All the excited swearing does seem justified, as a lot was accomplished with that launch. Beyond just sending a car into space, SpaceX successfully launched one of the more enormous rockets since the Saturn V, landed both boosters successfully with triple sonic booms, and proved that a rocket which could be capable of transporting astronauts to Mars was feasible.

Whether or not the Tesla actually makes it to Mars (which is unlikely), it's a step in the right direction for Musk's plans to set up a Mars colony within the next decade. Obviously, there's a few more steps which still need to be taken, but making sure the rocket works is no small step.

Otherwise, that's certainly not the face of a person who just lost their car, but since Musk also owns Tesla, he probably won't have trouble getting a new one.
