5 Ways Science Met Science Fiction Last Week
< >

Journey to the Center of the Earth, Jurassic Park and Gattaca were just a few of the classic science fiction movies that real life scientists drew their inspiration from last week. But while Journey and Gattaca are great movies, let's face it, all you really care about is whether or not Jurassic Park has finally been made a reality....

As much as we wish we could say that scientists have figured out how to bring Dinosaurs back to life, it would seem that we are going to have to settle for Wooly Mammoths...for now. Blood and muscle samples were found perfectly preserved on the frozen remains of one of the largest mammals ever to walk our planet, and now scientists in Russia say they are confident that they can use the samples to create a clone.

But that's not all that happened last week. Elsewhere we had a more light shed on a vast underground ocean, a drummer with a robotic hand and a contest inviting the public to help design a tricorder, just like the ones off of Star Trek!
