Watch A Fireball Light Up The Sky In Canada

A large fireball lit up the skies over Nova Scotia in Canada earlier this week, and the spectacular show was captured on film by cameras across the region. The event is thought to have been caused by a meteorite exploding as it streaked through our planet's atmosphere, and scientists are now scrambling to try and recover the object for testing.

Witnesses in the area reported seeing a bright object that made a thunderous sound as it shot down towards the ground. Experts estimate that the meteorite was roughly the size of a basketball and believe that the footage suggests it exploded at an altitude of around 47 miles high. Research teams believe the object would have touched down somewhere in Western Ontario and have put out a call to residents to recover the samples.
