Blood Moon Timelapse Video Is As Haunting As It Is Beautiful
Last night's 'Blood Moon' gave skywatchers across the Americas a chance to witness a rare celestial event. The total lunar eclipse occurred as a consequence of Earth passing directly between the Sun and the Moon, meaning that the suns light is only able to reach the moon after being refracted through Earth's atmosphere, giving it an sinister red glow. And, while heavy cloud meant that last night's skywatching event was a bust for many on the East coast of North America, much of South and North America were still able witness the enchanting Blood Moon. One such group was those who gathered at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, CA. Sitting high on the Hollywood hills, the observatory was afforded a spectacular view of last night's Blood Moon, and luckily for us, they recorded the whole thing and condensed it into this mesmerizing time-lapse.
