Astronauts Kick Off World Cup at International Space Station
While the whole world is waiting for the launch of the 2014 World Cup with anticipation, astronauts Reid Wiseman, Steve Swanson and Alexander Gerst are preparing for it in outer space, at the International Space Station, about 380 miles above us.
In honor of the kick-off at the Brazil v. Croatia game (which will be taking place in Sao Paolo at 4pm EST), these three astronauts decided to tape themselves showing off their moves, kicking the ball around in microgravity.
The astronauts will be watching the match from their computers, rooting for Brazil or Croatia along with the rest of us down here on Earth.
So keep them in mind when you look up at the sky tonight. Best of luck to everyone, and keep your fingers crossed that someday we will actually have tournaments in space!
